Version 2.2.3 is now available on Google Play and Amazon Appstore. It’s also been submitted to Nook, Samsung and Vodafone.
Some bug reports came in from users this weekend, so I created tickets and added them to the 2.2.4 roadmap. Pick up a ticket if you want to help out!
Looking forward, 2.3 is shaping up to be the ‘Native ActionBar’ release, we’re waiting for Google to include the ActionBar in the compatibility library, or we will use the ActionBarSherlock library add-on. Still in R&D but it seems like an achievable task.

Created 1.4.1, and closed out 1.4.0 milestone.

hmm I have problems getting access to stats with 1.4.1. I has worked fine until now. Then I made a factory reset of my phone and reinstalled wordpress app 1.4.1. Now I keep getting a login prompt when I try to access the stats tab. I am pretty sure that I input the right username/password as it is the same as I use for login on wordpress.com (which works fine). The blog has not been changed in any way and stats (inserted via jetpack) works perfectly on my dashbord.

I don’t think anything with stats was changed in this release, puzzling.
-
Fedelosa
The stats used to work with old WordPress.com Stats plugin for WP self hosted. If you install Jetpack over it, it continue working.
But, if in a new blog, you install Jetpack and configure Stats in it, then, don’t work in Android App.

Whoops, app crashes on 1.5 devices because I used a method that wasn’t available until 1.6. Will release 1.4.1 tomorrow. Will create another milestone for you Christof.

Très bonne application.
Mais pensez aux français,
qui écrivent avec des accents
et autres caractère spéciaux.
Car au premier accent l’article est tronqué.

Where can I log a bug/feature with XMLRPC? The iOS App does not seem to have this limitation.

Dan, I have downloaded this APP but cannot get it to work on my blog, when I try to access a blog page I get a blank screen, try again and I get a “forced shutdown” message. Before this release I could at least view my pages however I could not open pdf files which had links in the blog (my phone, HTC Desire, does work with pdf’s I have no problem vieing them)
-
Dan
I don’t think anything was changed with pages in 1.3.9, you might want to uninstall/reinstall the app to start fresh.

v1.3.3 was released this morning. It was a bug squashing release:
- fixed f/c on posts tab if post was created outside of app, and posts tab was never loaded previously
- fixed f/c on startup for small screen devices
- fixed removal of html tags when editing an existing post
- fixed incorrect image rotation on upload of thumbnails for certain devices
- optimized thumbnail processing in create/edit post view
Dan
1.3.2 was released this morning. On top of the fixes for stats and HTC sense 1.5 devices, we also squeezed in a small UI update including better tab icons and a nice ‘WordPress Blue’ title header. Thanks to Kahil Young for contributing!

Nice work guys, the app keeps on getting better

Here is a new concept based on the suggestions below…

-
Kahil
As an explanation…. This is what a mobile dashboard could look like given the suggestions of people wanting a ‘facebook’ or ‘twitter’ look to it.
The top bar features the WordPress logo, the blog name and also a search button to bring up a popup to search for things like posts, comments, etc.
The comments icon could have a subtle number in the top balloon that tells you the number of new comments.
The posts and pages sections are self explanatory.
The media section will display galleries for their sounds, pictures and videos. A user could view or upload new media.
The settings section is obviously where you can mess with all your settings.
The plugins section is where the stats plugin could go. This would keep it usable, but out of the way for users who don’t use it. It is also where future plugins could go that can be viewed/managed via the mobile app.
-
Dan
I like it, we would also like to add a reader to the app, maybe at the bottom it could have a small area that cycles through the featured posts on WordPress.com?
-
-
Kahil
What if that was the first and default item in the beginning where you choose from your different blogs? It would keep it as a separate item from the blogs while still being viewable since it is in the very first section.
-
Dan
I think where you have ‘Blog Name’ we’d have a drop down that has a blog selector like Matt suggested below. So the screen you have designed here would be the ‘home’ screen.
-
ikahil
What if it was done like Gmail handles different accounts. in the bottom settings popup you can choose “Accounts” and it will take you to an account selector section.
-
ikahil
I just worry that it would get too cluttered if that top section were dropped down even more for another section to go.
-
-
-
Kahil
Here it is with the new comment number idea…

-
ikahil
With the ticker…
-
Kahil
Ok everyone. Check out the newest mockup that has four panels that illustrate the various ideas so far…

-
Dan
Awesome, thanks for compiling the ideas together!
-
Kahil
No problem! If anyone has any other ideas for it, feel free to send them to me at: designs at ikahil dot com. I’ll do my best to take the ideas and put them in a mockup.

For the top bar, I want a “new post” button, either next to the “search” button or in place of. Or just create a widget

Thanks.-
Kahil
That is what the post section is for. If that were to happen, then people would want a button for new page, etc. I think the search button would be more useful, especially for those who blog heavily. Remember, in a good app design, less is more when it comes to what is on the screen.
A new post button can go in the place of the search button once in the post section…the same for the page section. That would look and work much betta.
-
Joshua Sigar
I think the search button would be more useful, especially for those who blog heavily.
I suppose those same people use “new post” feature a lot, too.
Anyway, no big deal; we can always create a widget.
-
-
Dan
I do like the idea of a quick post button, similar to the tweet button in the twitter app that is always there…
-
Kahil
Okies… I’ll see what I can come up with….
How about…. making it so that when you long press on the posts and pages button it does the new post/page?
-
Joshua Sigar
Heh, users probably won’t know the feature is there.
Or probably it’s just me. Too many things are unpredictable with apps on phones. By looking at an element in the interface, you just know if it will react on a click, a long-click, neither or both.
I think it’s OK to handle a click and a long-click on a list item., but not on those icons.
-
Joshua Sigar
you just know if it will react on a click, a long-click, neither or both.
That should read, “you just don’t know.”
-
Kahil
Here you guys go… I’d post the image here too, but I don’t seem to have that option. :/

Is the top right screen what you get when you press “+” button? , I have an objection.
I sort of defeat the purpose when you have to click twice to write a new post.
We probably should do a poll but people don’t write Pages (frequently).
And what is “Add Image…” and “Add Video…” People write a post and attach media from post screen. (That said, I also have an issue with Media button on the home screen but that’s another thread.)
I prefer a button that will lead straight to a New Post screen.
-
Joshua Sigar

It should read button? If so, I have an objection.

Kahil
would an extra click really be all that much of a burden on you? I mean, if your sprain your thumb I’ll send you a splint. Its an effort to appease everyone. Some people will want a little of everything and we can’t please them all. In the current version you already only have the add button in each of the sections (posts, pages, etc.)
I was trying to give a little bit of it all for every user. Some users make a lot of posts, some a lot of pages, some have a lot of media on them. It also give a small later of assurance in the case users with sausage fingers accidentally hit that button. Can call it a quick add button for all the sections when selected from the dashboard. They could still put in that meta-click on the posts, pages, and media buttons to go directly to the new of each.
-
Kahil
Also, the media section is good for users who do deal with a lot of media, especially images.
remember that this app isn’t meant to be about what YOU want and like. Its meant for everyone. Like I said, some people like one thing and others don’t. I own my own design business and from my experience, you can’t please everyone when designing something for the masses. The best but is to try and offer a little of it all and meet them in the middle.
The idea of this mobile dashboard was to reflect what users get on the web based version. Here I have put on the main sections of the web based version. I think that most people would agree that those six sections are the main sections of the web version right?
-
Joshua Sigar
Before I say anything more, let me just clarify a thing. Anything I’ve suggested is not for myself; it’s what I think will benefit more users. I should be careful with my wording now.
-
Kahil
Think of it like this… from the dashboard, the add button would bring up that popup window. When you are in the posts section or pages section, it would automatically go to a new item. Trying to keep in mind that not every user makes a lot of posts. On some of the sites I’ve made and sites my friends have, they make more pages and upload more media than they do posts because they are using WordPress not for blogging, but as a back end to a site.

Released v1.2.1 to the market today, after a quick db fix added for those upgrading from v1.2
Dan
Build 1.2.1 is on track for a release this Monday:
- Delete posts and pages
- Image/Video upload fix for HTC Sense devices (still waiting on confirmation on this in this forum thread
- Post Signature Option (i.e. ‘Posted from WordPress for Android’)
- Anchor tags added around URLs that are shared with the app
- Geotag threading and other improvements
The build is available to download for testing on the trac site.
-
Joshua
- You might want to wrap the Post Signature in its own element with a class/id so that a theme could style it differently.
- I have no clue what feature 4 and 5 are so I don’t know how to test it
-

Dan, I would like to follow up with you about the HTC Incredible image fix. Is there a better way to reach you or you me? I think we can help each other.

Can’t wait to get my hands on the next version (finally Pull To Refresh).
May I ask you to create a new milestone for the next version in Trac?
